Our talk on Tuesday 26 May 2015 was by Cathy Pharoah on “A futures perspective on challenges for charitable funding streams” which is highly relevant to the situation facing the nor-for-profit sector after the election.
The Minister for Civil Society Rob Wilson MP attended on Monday 23 May 2016 and spoke about the Government’s plans for funding the Third Sector as well as answering various questions.
Jim Clifford OBE who headed the Advisory and Impact teams at Bates Wells Braithwaite gave a fascinating talk on “Measuring impact – impossible dream, or means to deliver our greater vision?” at our meeting on 15 September 2015. Jim looked at the measurement of social impact, drawing on direct experience with social sector organisations in the UK and from his wider work. Using a Powerpoint slide presentation he outlined why and how measurement is done and how it brings benefit in fundraising, in commissioned services, for payment-by-results contracts and for operating through partnerships and network. Above all, he explained how it helps us to deliver more relevant, effective and focused services and can drive innovation in the emerging field of outcomes-based planning.
If anyone would like a copy of Jim’s slide presentation then please let Keith Best know (keithbest@hotmail.com)
